"Wild,
beautiful, uncrowded, unspoiled, peaceful." Copper
Harbor is all these things. For adventures off the
beaten path, the Harbor offers much. At your
doorstep in the Mariner North you are neighbors
with the greatest of our inland seas - Lake Superior
... the deepest, coldest, cleanest, largest.
Enjoy sailing and power boating with available tie-ups
and a completely equipped state operated marina.
Deep water fishing for the mighty Lake trout. Coho
salmon, and delectable whitefish. Large and small
inland lakes and streams for Brook and Rainbow trout,
perch, muskie, and Northern Pike.

the tranquility |
Call for information regarding charters for fishing
and scuba diving. Trails, woods, fields, and hills
for hiking, camping, birding, photography, mountain
biking. An abundance of wildlife to watch: Deer,
bear, coyote, waterfowl. A vivid September color
season. A brilliant skyfull of stars, and on many
evenings, the fascinating, captivating Northern
Lights. Golfing - a very unusual and challenging
nine holes at the county operated Keweenaw Mountain
Lodge.
 |
The
Mariner North is located directly on the snowmobile
trail system.
|
Indulge
your favorite winter sport - Keweenaw has over 250
miles of beautifully groomed snowmobile trails.
Our cross country ski trails are groomed daily.
You will find many areas suitable for some snow
shoeing. The harbor itself and the nearby inland
lakes are prefect for ice fishing. This winter do
something different!
For downhill skiers, located just 15 miles south
of Copper Harbor is Mt.
Bohemia. We encourage you to try their hill
for the midwest's steepest vertical and most powder.
The same lake effect that keeps us cool in the summer,
keeps us warmer in the winter than our neighbors
to the west and south. It contributes to the deep
snowfalls, usually totalling more than 270 inches
a year.
Distinctive shops for gifting, no two are alike!
Items crafted locally and from around the world;
items historical and antique. Three museums. An
agate shop, and some of the world's best rock hounding
beaches if you'd rather find your own. And, not
of least importance: Peace, quiet, tranquility,
for thinking, introspection, rest, and just plain
loafing.
Copper Harbor is about 5 1/2 driving hours from
Green Bay, 3 hours from Ironwood, and 6 hours from
the Mackinac Bridge. For trips to Isle
Royale National Park, the Harbor is the place
to begin. The Isle Royale Queen III makes six round
trips weekly throughout the summer.
For a list of activities in Copper Harbor, visit
the town
website. Copper Harbor is a natural world. Plan
to spend some time here. Plan to headquarter at
the Mariner North. We're open year round. |
